On Holy Thursday, the bishop consecrates the Holy Oils and washes the feet of 12 poor men in memory of the washing by Our Lord of the feet of the Apostles. On Good Friday, the crucifix is unveiled and adored by the people. On Holy Saturday, fire is struck from a flint, from this the Paschal candle and sanctuary lamp are lit, to remind us that Christ is the Light of the world, from whom all lights and graces come.
